Like Clockwork , which is set for a June release date, will also feature Dave Grohl, Sir Elton John, Trent Reznor, Jake Shears of Scissor Sisters. Previous Queens Of The Stone Age collaborators Mark Lanegan and Nick Oliveri will also appear on the album as does James Lavelle, better known as the man behind UNKLE.

Josh Homme of QOTSA has previously collaborated with the Arctic Monkeys. He produced most of their third album, Humbug and did backing vocals on “All My Own Stunts” from their fourth album, Suck It and See.

Australian website watchoutfor.com.au recently interviewed the Arctic Monkeys bassist.

About Suck it and See, he said:

I think it’s gone really well. It probably got received better than Humbug did I think because I suppose it was a bit more pop than maybe no. 3 [Humbug] was.  Everyone seems to be enjoying the new songs when we play them live and singing along and everything. So yeah, like really sort of positive response to it.

Alex Turner told Gigwise:

“I love The Smiths. I don’t know if I was listening to a great deal of it while I was writing this last record but I don’t mind that coming through in our songs at all.

The other influence we have from Manchester, I suppose, is John Cooper- Clarke and whilst I think his influence is really prevalent in that first record it also still hangs around in some of the couplets on this new Monkeys album as well.”

and, about touring, he says:

“I have started to enjoy that side of things and I’ve done things on stage recently that I never thought I would have done.  Being up there in the limelight, if you like, is something that didn’t come naturally to me at all, like singing, it’s something that has built up over time. But now I’m doing stupid crowd participation things like shouting, ‘just this side sing’. That was a gag that we used to have in the practice room but I actually went through with it the other night and felt like I had to apologise.”
